Will Smith Surprises Jabari Banks By Landing Main Role In ‘Fresh Prince’ Remake

The Fresh Prince of “Bel-Air” has been located.

In a video released on Tuesday, it was announced that Jabari Banks, a newbie from West Philadelphia, will portray Will in the upcoming revival of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

Will Smith, the original Will and star of “Fresh Prince,” shocked Banks in the video by delivering the news of his casting.

Banks also says in the video that he found out about the job after his father emailed him an article about it. He got a call from his agency two months later.

In the video, Smith tells Banks, “You’ve got a wonderful path ahead of you, and I’m looking forward to being an asset for you in this process as you build out your life and build out your profession.”

The hourlong series is a reworking of the 1990s sitcom as a drama series, as previously reported.

It’s based on writer Morgan Cooper’s popular YouTube trailer, which follows Will on his “complex journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the guarded mansions of Bel-Air.”

There is still no word about additional casting.
