CHICAGO — One person was killed and at least 13 people were injured in two separate shootings in Chicago on Sunday night, according to authorities.
An SUV drove past and bullets were fired in the South Shore neighborhood just before 9 p.m., killing a lady and injuring four men and a youngster, according to press reports. When the gunshots erupted, the six-person party was standing outside.
According to authorities, the woman was shot six times and transported to a hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced dead. The four males and a 15-year-old kid were brought to hospitals and were stated to be in stable condition.
A subsequent gunshot in the Marquette Park neighborhood two hours later injured eight individuals, according to Chicago fire authorities. In addition, two persons were hurt in a nearby automobile crash.
The connection between the gunshot and the collision was not immediately apparent. Authorities also declined to comment on what may have led up to the shooting.
There were no immediate suspects or arrests in either shooting.
