Olivia Rodrigo Discusses Her Importance As A Role Model For Filipino American Women

Olivia Rodrigo recently discussed her importance as a role model for young Filipino Americans in an interview.

Bowen Yang, the 18-year-old star of “Saturday Night Live,” spoke to V magazine about everything from fangirling over Taylor Swift and Dr. Anthony Fauci to accepting her Asian identity as an artist.

“I receive DMs from tiny girls saying things like, ‘I’ve never seen someone who looks like me in your position,'” Rodrigo explained. “And I’m about to burst out laughing. It makes me feel good simply thinking about it. I feel like I never saw that as a kid. ‘Popstar,’ it was usually said, referring to a white female.”

The actress from “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” also spoke on the difficulties that young women in the music industry endure.

She added, “It’s like this thing where you’re only successful if you’re under 30.” “I’ve always hated that since I believe I’ll just become better as I get older.”

However, for the time being, the “good 4 u” singer stated she’s content with where she’s at in life.

Rodrigo said, “Honestly, I just turned 18, so there are so many regular adolescent things that I’m very thrilled to accomplish.” “There is so much to learn and so many experiences to be gained in life. So that’s what I’m most looking forward to. I enjoy the process of maturation. I believe that as I get older, I am happy, therefore I hope this tendency continues.”
