NFL Linebacker Barkevious Mingo Charged With Indecency With Child In Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas — Police in Texas reported Saturday that NFL linebacker Barkevious Mingo, who is present with the Atlanta Falcons, was arrested on a charge of indecency with a child sexual contact.

Mingo, 30, was detained on Thursday in Arlington, Texas, a Dallas suburb. Mingo had an address in West Monroe, Louisiana, according to jail records.

Arlington Police said in a statement that they couldn’t say much more about the investigation because of “the nature of the accusations and the victim’s age.”

“Mingo handed himself upon his own initiative after consulting with his attorney,” according to police.

After posting a $25,000 bail, Mingo was freed.

On Saturday, his attorney did not respond to an email requesting a comment.

Cleveland selected Mingo with the sixth overall choice in the 2013 NFL Draft. In March, he signed a one-year deal with the Falcons. During his NFL career, Mingo has also played for Chicago, Houston, New England, and Seattle.

“After being made aware today of accusations concerning Barkevious Mingo and reviewing information on the matter,” the Falcons terminated Mingo’s contract on Saturday night.
