A deputy sheriff in Washington state was shot and murdered in the line of duty on Friday night, prompting authorities to seek suspects.
The deputy engaged in the incident, which took place about 7:00 p.m., has yet to be identified.
In an early news conference, Clark County Sheriff Sgt. Brent Waddell claimed the deputy was hospitalized after being “seriously hurt,” but by 11:30 p.m., the agency confirmed the officer had died.
According to The Columbian, two individuals of interest have been apprehended, and a hunt for a third is underway.
According to local ABC station KATU, police were involved in a late-night confrontation with someone at a Vancouver apartment complex.
